A browser-based editor for Lottie animations, letting you create and adjust them without going through After Effects and the Bodymovin plugin.
Why we recommend it
Lottie is the standard for lightweight animation in apps and on the web, but producing one has traditionally meant After Effects plus an export plugin. Lottielab lets designers edit Lottie files directly, and lets developers tweak an animation without reopening the source project.
Strengths
- Edit existing Lottie JSON directly — invaluable when you need to change a colour or timing on an animation whose source file is long gone. Import from After Effects or Figma. Straightforward handoff, with hosted playback and embed snippets.
Drawbacks
- Younger and less capable than After Effects for authoring complex animation from scratch. Lottie itself has real limits — no video, restricted effects, and rendering fidelity varies across platforms. The free tier is limited on project count and collaboration.
