Why we recommend it
Most favicon generators hand back PNGs only, which leaves the /favicon.ico that browsers request unprompted returning a 404. This one assembles a genuine multi-size ICO container in the browser, so the set is actually complete.
Strengths
- Free, no account, nothing uploaded. Produces a real multi-size favicon.ico alongside 16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512px PNGs. Falls back to letters when there is no logo yet. Keeps non-square sources in proportion instead of squashing them, and gives you the HTML to paste.
Keep in mind
- Output is raster only: an SVG source is rasterised, so you do not get the SVG favicon that modern browsers can use for crisp scaling and dark-mode variants. It writes the manifest link but not the site.webmanifest file itself. Letter mode is capped at three characters and uses your system font stack rather than your brand typeface. There is no maskable-icon safe-zone preview for Android adaptive icons.
