Why we recommend it

Every mainstream image compressor uploads your file to someone else's server before it does anything. This one has no network call in it at all, which matters when the file is a client's unreleased work rather than a holiday photo.

Strengths

  • Free, no account, nothing uploaded. Batches up to 30 files. WebP, JPEG or PNG output with a quality slider and optional width cap. Tells you when a file could not be improved instead of returning a larger one.

Drawbacks

  • It re-encodes rather than optimises: for PNGs it will usually lose to a dedicated optimiser like pngquant or oxipng, because canvas has no lossless PNG mode. There is no AVIF output. All metadata is stripped on export, which is good for privacy but bad if you need EXIF or colour profiles preserved. Browser memory caps it at 30 files and 40 MB each, so it is not a bulk pipeline for a photo library.

How much does Image Compressor cost?

Free — Free.

The vendor’s published list price, checked by hand and excluding tax. Team, education and non-profit rates are often lower than the figure above, and annual billing is usually cheaper than monthly. Compare what every tool in the directory costs.
