Why we recommend it

Most free icon sets are either too characterful to be neutral or too small to cover a real product. Remix Icon is deliberately plain and broad enough to be a whole product's icon system, under Apache-2.0 so commercial use is uncomplicated.

Strengths

  • Consistent grid and stroke weight across the whole set, so icons sit together properly. Outlined and filled pairs make active and inactive states easy. Available as SVG, webfont, npm package and a Figma library.

Drawbacks

  • Deliberately neutral, so it will not give a product any visual personality — that is the point, but it is a limitation if you want character. Coverage of niche domains such as medical, industrial or finance is thinner than Font Awesome's. Update cadence is periodic rather than continuous.
